Chapel Hill Invisalign at Meadowmont Dentistry

Straighter teeth without brackets or wires

Written by the Meadowmont Dentistry team. Medically reviewed by Dr. Corey Wilson, DDS. Last reviewed: August 2026.

What Invisalign is, and who it suits

Invisalign is a series of clear, removable aligners, custom-made for your teeth, that shift them a small amount at a time until they sit where they should.

People ask us about Chapel Hill Invisalign for all kinds of reasons: teeth that have crowded together, gaps that bother them in photos, or a bite that never got sorted out when they were younger. Dr. Wilson has particular expertise in Invisalign, and the first thing he does is tell you honestly whether aligners will get you the result you want. If they will not, you hear that in the first visit rather than halfway through treatment.

Who tends to do well with aligners

We treat adults and teens with Invisalign, and younger children with Invisalign First. Most of what brings patients in involves crowding, spacing, or teeth that have drifted since a childhood round of orthodontics. Your gums need to be in good shape before we start, so if that needs attention first, we take care of it here.

One office, one plan

Because we handle almost everything in house, an Invisalign case does not get handed off. The same practice that scans your teeth plans the movement, checks your progress, whitens at the end, and makes your retainers.

Why straight teeth matter beyond how they look

The benefits of straight teeth are enormous, and most of them have nothing to do with appearance.

  • Cleaning gets easier: teeth you can actually brush and floss around mean healthier gums and less cavity risk.
  • Wear and breakage drop: when teeth fit together properly, they are less likely to chip, crack, break, or wear down early.
  • They look good: that one needs no explanation, and it is a fair reason on its own.

How treatment works here, starting with the scan

Every Invisalign case at our office begins with a digital scan, not a tray of impression material.

The conversation before anything else

Dr. Wilson looks at your bite, your gums, and what bothers you about your teeth, then walks you through what aligners can and cannot fix. We will never recommend treatment you do not need. You get the options, the tradeoffs, and what makes sense for your life and your budget, with no pressure and no upsell.

The digital scan

We own three iTero scanners and use them for restorative, implant, and Invisalign work, so your records come from a camera instead of putty. That scan builds the plan your aligners come from. Our MouthWatch intra-oral cameras put the same images on a screen in front of you, so you see exactly what is going on with your teeth rather than taking our word for it.

Your check-in visits

Aligner treatment runs on short, regular visits, and you see the same doctor and the same front-office faces at every one of them. Many of our hygienists and front-office staff have been here ten years or more. We open at 7 AM Monday through Thursday and stay open through lunch, which makes early appointments easy to fit around work or school.

What we include that most offices charge for

Two things come with every Invisalign case here that plenty of practices bill separately: whitening at the end, and four sets of retainers.

Whitening once your case is finished

When your teeth reach their final position, we whiten them at no charge. We have used KoR for ten years and consider it the best whitening system in dentistry, and we keep Opalescence on hand for touch-ups between visits. New patients also get complimentary whitening pens.

Four sets of retainers, every time

You finish with four sets rather than one. A lost retainer or a cracked one stops being a scramble, and holding your result costs you nothing extra at the point you need it most.

Invisalign for teens and younger children

We treat teenagers with Invisalign and younger children with Invisalign First, so a family can sort out orthodontics without adding another office to the calendar.

Teenagers tend to like aligners for the same reason adults do: nothing shows in photos, and nothing complicates a soccer season. For younger kids, we also offer orthodontic consultations and refer out when a case calls for care we do not provide. You will hear that recommendation early rather than late.

Living with aligners day to day

Aligners come out when you eat and when you brush, which is the practical difference patients mention most.

The forces on your teeth stay light, so treatment does not bring the soreness people remember from braces. Nothing sits bonded to the front of your teeth, which makes the whole thing far more esthetic. Brushing and flossing carry on exactly as they did before you started, because you take the trays out first.

The trade is compliance. Aligners work only while you wear them, so we give you a wear schedule at your scan appointment and check your progress at each visit. Patients who follow the schedule get the result the scan predicted.

If you like to read up before deciding, our team also writes about treatments and technology we use in the practice.

How does Invisalign compare with braces or veneers?

Invisalign moves your own teeth, veneers cover the teeth you have, and braces move teeth the same way aligners do but with brackets and wires fixed in place.

Aligners or braces

Braces remain a reasonable answer for some cases. We do not offer them. If brackets suit your case better, we tell you so and point you toward someone who does that work, because sending you to the right treatment beats selling you the one we happen to provide. For the cases aligners handle well, patients pick Invisalign for the light forces, the lack of metal, and the fact that the trays come out.

Aligners or veneers

Veneers make sense when teeth need covering rather than moving, for shape, color, or damage that straightening will not solve. We craft ours in a lab, show you a digital preview first, and can place temporary veneers so you test-drive the look before committing. We also offer no-prep veneers. For a single small chip, bonding with tooth-colored composite often settles it.

Retainers, and holding what you paid for

Teeth drift back toward where they started unless something holds them, so every orthodontic patient here leaves with retainers.

We offer Vivera retainers and bonded retainers. Everyone gets removable retainers at minimum. Some patients want, or we advise, a fixed bar bonded behind the front teeth canine to canine, which holds the result with nothing to remember at bedtime. Plenty of people end up with both.

We also stand behind our work. With regular checkups and good home care, if something we placed breaks, fails, or does not hold up, we fix it at no charge.

TECHNOLOGY

Modern tools, better outcomes

Our doctors invest heavily in technology because it makes treatment more accurate, more comfortable, and more predictable. Some of the tools you will see at your visits:

Itero Lumina digital scanners
(no more goopy impressions)
Sirona Galileos XG3D Cone Beam CT
Overjet AI cavity and lesion detection
Velscope oral cancer screening
NV Pro Diode Lasers for soft-tissue work
Ostell for implant stability testing
Galaxis implant planning software
MouthWatch intraoral cameras
(so you can see exactly what we see)

Sedation & Comfort

Care that feels easy

We know dental visits are not everyone’s favorite part of the week. That is why we offer oral sedation for patients who feel anxious, along with pillows, blankets, noise-cancelling headphones, and bottled water at every appointment. Most patients tell us the visit was much easier than they expected, and a lot of them tell us they actually look forward to coming back.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Chapel Hill Invisalign cost?

We do not publish a price, because the number depends on how far your teeth need to move and what your case involves. You get the full figure in writing before you agree to anything. Natalie Johnson, our Office Manager and Treatment Coordinator, walks you through the cost and your options. We accept cash, checks, credit cards, dental membership plans, and dental insurance, and we offer financing through CareCredit, Sunbit, and Proceed Financial when spreading payments makes a case workable.

Am I a candidate for clear aligners?

The only way to know is a scan and an exam. Dr. Wilson checks your bite and your gum health, reviews what you want changed, and tells you whether aligners will get you there. If they will not, he says so and explains what would.

How long does treatment take?

It depends on how far your teeth have to travel, so we will not guess before we scan. Once we have your digital records, you get a timeline built for your case rather than an average.

Does dental insurance cover Invisalign?

Coverage varies by plan, and some plans include orthodontic benefits while others leave them out. We are not in network with any dental insurance, and we file your claims for you so the paperwork is not your problem. Natalie will help you understand what your plan does before you start.

How much do I have to wear the aligners?

You wear them on the schedule we give you at your scan appointment, taking them out to eat and to brush. Aligners move teeth only while they are in, so consistency does the work here. We check in on progress at every visit.

Should I choose Invisalign or braces?

Both move teeth. Aligners use lighter forces, show no metal, and come out for meals and home care. Braces stay fixed to the teeth and suit some cases better. We do not provide braces, so if that is the better route for you, we say so and refer you rather than talk you into aligners.

What happens after treatment ends?

You whiten, at no charge, and you go into retainers. We provide four sets, in Vivera or bonded form depending on what your case needs, and we keep an eye on the result at your regular checkups.

Payment and Insurance

Honest, flexible, easy to plan around

We are out of network with all dental insurance plans, but we file claims on your behalf so you only pay your estimated portion at the time of service. We accept cash, checks, credit cards, and most major financing through CareCredit and Sunbit. Custom payment arrangements are also available for qualifying treatment.

Our Treatment Coordinator will walk you through every cost before treatment begins, with no surprises and no pressure.
